Implementation & Analysis of ZigBee Network for Agriculture Application

Abstract:
Watering is the most important and most labor intensive task in agriculture field. Watering systems ease the burden of getting water to plants when they need it. Knowing when and how much water is two important parameter of watering process. Normally, the plants need water when the moisture level of soil is less than the level which is required for that particular plants. To make the agriculture works easy, the automatic plants watering system is created.

In this project watering is done with the help of electric motor, because it can produce water to the plants located in the field. This project uses Arduino board, which consists of ATmega 328P microcontroller. It is programmed in such a manner that, it will sense the moisture level of the soil with the help of soil moisture sensor and supply the water when the moisture level is less than the required threshold moisture level. We are using ZigBee for the wireless transmission of the measured moisture level at a distance & for automatic start or stop the motor for watering to maintain the water level in the field.

People enjoy plants, their benefits and the feeling related to nurturing them. The system automation is designed to be assistive to the user. We hope that through this prototype people will enjoy watering to their plants without the challenges related to absent or forgetfulness.
